Second Year Festival of Film, Theatre & Television
Monday 1st and Tuesday 2nd June 2015
We have great pleasure in inviting you to our Festival of Film, Theatre and Television.
Our Second-year Theatre students have created a series of short performance pieces that respond uniquely to a variety of sources and contemporary issues, including:
- Lucy Prebble’s kaleidoscopic Enron, which explores the rise and fall of Enron’s CEO, Jeffrey Skilling, and the corrupting force of money;
- Sophie Treadwell’s Machinal, a brilliant and expressionistic play that critiques the limited freedoms of a woman caught in the ‘machine’ of early twentieth century America;
- Martin Crimp’s hugely influential Attempts on Her Life, a play that has no plot or clearly defined characters and confronts its audiences with the complexities of our postmodern world.
Film students, meanwhile, have created their own short films in a range of styles and forms.
Tickets per programme: £2 (£1 for concessions), available to buy at the box office in Minghella foyer 30 minutes before each programme starts. Arrive early to avoid disappointment.
First Year Festival of Film, Theatre & Television- Thursday 28th May 2015
Please come along to our Festival of Film, Theatre and Television! Our First Year Theatre students have devised three distinct experimental performances responding to autobiography, objects, and duration, and these will be taking place at 11 am, 2pm and 6.30pm in the Studio Space (Minghella Building).
The First Year Film students, meanwhile, have developed short, live-mixed films responding to objects: their materiality, their wider histories, and the question of what happens when objects are brought into the film frame or performance space. This work will be shown in a loop (6 groups have made films) on 28th May in the Minghella Cinema.
