Official Naming Ceremony of the Minghella Building

On May the 10th Film, Theatre and Television welcomed Oscar-winning British film producer Lord David Puttnam and the family of the late film director Anthony Minghella to officially open our new £11m building on Whiteknights campus. The building is named in honour of Minghella, who passed away in 2008, and who worked across all three mediums. He had close ties with the university, receiving an honorary doctorate in 2006.

Before the official naming ceremony in the afternoon, Lord Puttnam led a masterclass with students, where he took student questions and discussed his work, including Chariots of Fire (Hudson, 1981) The Killing Fields (Joffe, 1984).

Local news coverage of the day can be found here, which includes a look at some of our facilities and students involved in practical work. Further information on the day can be found here.
